The resultant shaping of the breasts is permanent and long-lasting, although a little asymmetry can occur in the breasts postoperatively. There is nonetheless immense relief from all the anxiety of heavy breasts and the self-esteem of the patient immediately shoots up. There may be some numbness around the nipple area which usually gets normal in a few weeks’ time.
